ADVENTURE WRITER MAX CATTO'S BOOKS COMING BACK INTO PRINT

Clearwater, Florida (May 23, 2016) — President and editor-in-chief of Raven's Head Press, Michael Hudson, is proud to announce that a new licensing arrangement has been struck with the Estate of world famous playwright and adventure novelist,
Maxwell Jeffrey Catto (July 29, 1907 - March 12, 1992).

Catto wrote adventure novels and dramas for more than four decades and also wrote under the pseudonym Simon Kent. Ten of his works were adapted for film, the most notable of which was the novel The Killing Frost, which became Carol Reed's 1956 film Trapeze starring Burt Lancaster, Gina Lollobrigida and Tony Curtis. This would be closely followed by Murphy's War starring Peter O'Toole. Although he was a holder of a degree in electrical engineering from Manchester University, Catto began writing novels and plays in the late 1930s. After a stint in the Royal Air Force during World War II, Catto returned to writing fiction. Exotic settings and fast-paced action were the trademarks of his novels, defying categorization into any one genre, instead blending elements of many popular literary styles. Much of his work has been translated into other languages.

Hudson says, "Catto's books have long been out of print and being able to locate his family and work out an arrangement to bring his marvelous works back is such a thrill. I can't wait to get started."

Spokesperson for the family, Robin Catto says, “The opportunity of getting to see our grandfather’s most famous works back in print after all these years will be a wonderful treat for me and my siblings. We look forward to working with Michael and Raven’s Head Press.”

The works selected for republication are as follows: THE KILLING FROST • 1950,
A PRIZE OF GOLD • 1953, A HILL IN KOREA • 1953, FIRE DOWN BELOW • 1954,
GOLD IN THE SKY • 1956, FERRY TO HONG KONG • 1957, THE DEVIL AT FOUR O’CLOCK • 1958, THE LIONS AT THE KILL • 1959, MISTER MOSES • 1961, THE TIGER IN THE BED • 1963, D- DAY IN PARADISE • 1963, MURPHY’S WAR • 1969

The first release will be A Prize of Gold and publication date is scheduled for the fall of 2016.

Similar to the works of David Dodge and Leslie Charteris, Davide Mana's The Corsair series moves along the same lines of an old television show called "The Persuaders". Davide Mana is hard at work translating and adapting a new series for Raven's Head Press thanks to our good friends at Nero Press and authors Federica Soprani and Vittoria Corella.
1890. The European order had already manifested the seeds of a world war and sees two opposing schools of scientific thought: the British Craftsmen who strive to develop a mechanical society through the use of exoskeleton engineering in order to reinforce the capabilities of workers and soldiers. They have a plan for a "utopian" society located in Eastern Europe known as Meccagenetronica where they develop terrifying man-machine hybrids. In London this triggers a battle without quarter between a mysterious masked vigilante known as Fog, Sergeant Malachy Murphy and the ruthless Baba Yaga, a woman employed for his own sinister purposes by Dr. Anton Morse, the genius behind Meccagenetronica. Also involved in the fight is a young diamond cutter named Mordecai Gerolamus, who is singularly haunted by invisible and disturbing demons, and the aggressive journalist, Catherine "Orlando" Swan and her brother Percy, director of the newspaper where she works.
The books will be short reads and the storyline will develop and grow as new books come out. Raven's Head Press plans to release one book per quarter in 2016.

I know that it seems we go through periods of silence but I can assure you that we're always busy working on new books. And then you get a month like January where we've released three new books. That is the culmination of all the hard work in the background.

Raven's Head Press is proud to present a new author to our lineup in Marco Siena. Our first book of his is titled 3 Under the Moon and it's a dandy.

3 Under the Moon is comprised of three intertwined horror tales that take place under the moon of England. The cast includes werewolves, bungling petty criminals, and mutant law officers who operate outside the realm of normal.

The first story, Yellow Car and Silver Bullets, tells about the meeting between three crooks who chase a mysterious individual named Juan who just may be a werewolf. In I Hate to Go an Italian-American special agent, Ray Konopski, arrives in London to settle a baffling case that leads him to cross paths with Juan. The final story, Tell Him, centers around Harper, a London bobby, who joins together with Konopski to solve a strange case surrounding Juan who just happened to murder him the night before.

The book is available at amazon.con, Barnes & Noble, and fine bookstores everywhere.

Raven's Head Press has a new kindle book out today and it is great read.

Originally serialized in Adventure magazine as He Who Rides the Tiger and as a novel in 1948 as The Nightwalkers, James Norman Schmidt writing as James Norman gave us a fine adventure mystery with an exotic locale that has not seen U.S. print since 1953.
For now, Raven's Head Press will just be offering this as a kindle edition. Enjoy!

Raven's Head Press is proud that Alexandra Holzer's GHOST GAL: The Wild Hunt has been included as a nominee for the Fiction Literary Award category in the prestigious 2015 Paranormal Awards. And they gave us the really nifty Certificate of Nomination that we show off. Bobby Nash did a bang up job as he always does on the book with some asides from me and our muse, Alexandra, was always there with anecdotes about her childhood and parents to charm us and keep us on the straight and narrow if that can even be done in a paranormal adventure.

Raven's Head Press is delighted to announce that Italy's horror maestro, Paolo Di Orazio's MY EARLY CRIMES is now available for purchase through Amazon.

The book is comprised of ten short stories originally  published as Primi Delitti by Acme Press in 1989 in Italy. The book began as a comic book project but saw print in a prose format as a supplement to Orazio's already notorious "Splatter" comics anthology. Primi Delitti became the forerunner of the Italian splatter noir movement. The book was very successful and caused a Parliamentary  ruling in 1990 accusing the book of an "incitement to murder".

The stories, comprised of children who take part in or are witness to their first murders indeed, are horrific and many are defined from the viewpoint of a child. That one aspect lends even more terror since we as adults view the world from a much different perspective.

Our edition has been translated by Michael R. Hudson and adapted to appeal to an English reading audience. Cover is by the wonderfully talented fine arts painter, Stephen Mackey with interior black and white spot illustrations by another fine arts painter and amazing illustrator, Jamie Chase.

Here is what some people have to say about My Early Crimes:

"A visionary poet of flesh and blood nightmares. Paolo Di Orazio is both a dazzling storm and a sinuous snake that hisses into your ear. My Early Crimes is one of the most disturbing and original works of this talented writer. Highly recommended."
—Alessandro Manzetti, Bram Stoker Award Nominee

"Paolo Di Orazio is not for the faint-hearted."
—Gene O'Neill, Bram Stoker Award winner

"Paolo Di Orazio is a literary Dario Argento. Very spooky stuff, beautifully translated from the Italian by Michael R. Hudson."
—Jamie Chase,  Myx, The Darkness From Warsaw, First World, At The Earth's Core

The book will be available as a standard trade paperback at 6" x 9" 138 pages. Itwill also be offered in both Kindle and mobi formats. A very special deluxe hardback edition limited to fifty (50) signed books by both Orazio and Hudson is underway and should be available very soon.

If you would like to order a copy of the trade paperback edition please click here:

One last thing. We are asking that if you read the book would you PLEASE give us a review on your blog and on Amazon. Reviews are like gold. Both Orazio and Hudson are available for podcasts and interviews. If you are a reviewer and will commit to a review and want a copy of the book please ask.

ERNESTO GASTALDI'S THE CASE OF THE BLOODY IRIS by Michael Hudson is now available for ordering on the Raven's Head Press website or on Amazon.com.

When a couple of young women are viciously slain in a once glamorous Milan high-rise, two beautiful young models move into one of the highly sought after vacated apartments. Soon, a mysterious killer is stalking both women! The suspects include a sex-crazed ex-husband, a lesbian neighbor on the prowl, the deformed son of a sinister widow, and even the building's handsome property manager who suffers from hemophobia, a paralyzing fear of blood. Can the local police inspector and our two heroines expose the masked maniac with an appetite for alluring women and perverted murder before the girls become his next victim?

Based on the fantastic giallo screenplay of Ernesto Gastaldi with an informative and entertaining foreword by Video Watchdog’s Tim Lucas, Michael Hudson’s version of The Case of the Bloody Iris is going to have you looking over your shoulder and sitting on the edge of your seat when you are alone in the dark.

Tiziana Marzano Biography
Tiziana Marzano was born in a quiet seaside town on the Calabrian coast of Italy where she still lives and works today. She holds a degree in Modern Literature. Through much discipline and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, Tiziana obtained a specialization in Latin and a master’s degree in Professional Writing and Publishing.

She has been working in the publishing industry since 2009, starting out as editor of medical-science textbooks for a small publishing house in Verona and later as an advertising agency copywriter. From 2010 to the present she has contributed articles to several newspapers, and to scholarly and literary magazines (both online and printed). From May 2011 to November 2012 Tiziana served as the publishing consultant and editor of an independent publishing house, working on numerous projects from a series of novels to works of non fiction. Her activities as a hands-on editor has always been to work directly and closely with writers, publishers, cultural institutions, and anyone desiring to transform their own passion for writing into a published reality.

Raven's Head Press will be bringing you a very special "One Shot" novelette titled WICKED GAME by Gianluca Piredda. The book will be published in a single edition with both English and Italian text.

Gianluca Piredda was born in Sassari, in northern Sardinia. His mother was a teacher and homemaker, her father a police officer. Gianluca soon fell in love of storytelling. As a child, his mother told him stories of the Greek myths instead of traditional fairy tales and, in elementary school, he visited the office of the local newspaper and it fascinated him. He started working very young in publishing. At 15, his first publication, and he started working both as an author and as journalist. In 1997 comes his first own comic book miniseries and in 1999 he arrived in the US market, by publishing "Winds of Winter" (Antarctic Press, 2000). From there onwards, he wrote many other things like "Warrior Nun Areala", "Free Fall", "Airboy", "Spektral" and several short stories for Image Comics and thriller stories. As a journalist, he worked in radio, TV and several newspapers and magazines of which he was editor and editor in chief. Today he writes books about media and for Italian newspapers like Libero.

Thanks to the best agent in the whole wide world, Tiziana Marzano for setting up this mutual representation deal.

Her face was disfigured by a line of blood that ran across one eye and she was covered in scratches and bruises."At home? I'm at home?" she stuttered with swollen, bloody lips.

Jack Migol, troubleshooter for one of Hollywood's biggest studios, never heard his wife utter those words. He never heard her say anything that made sense again. That sent him on a path of revenge that would not be sated until a handful of tinseltown's elite were destroyed in ways equally as creative as the films they produced.

DESERT TOWN is dark crime fiction for those who have a taste for the perverse and violent. It was made into a major film, DESERT FURY, starring Burt Lancaster, Lizabeth Scott and Mary Astor. It’s the story of seventeen year old Paula Haller’s transition into womanhood as she defies her mother, Fritzi’s dominance. Fritzi runs the small town of Chuckawalla including the Purple Sage casino and saloon as well as a bordello or two. Fritzi can control everything but Paula and the tension between the two is drawn as tight as a drum. The scenery includes sprawling ranches, a very much out of place colonial mansion and the vast beauty of the desert. Mix in a notorious gangster, his insanely jealous torpedo, a love triangle, the town sheriff, some weirdly eccentric characters and innuendo aplenty. Once the sun brings all these ingredients to a boil you’ve got the backdrop for a noir setting like no other.

Raven's Head Press is proud to announce an exciting new series debuting in 2014. Noted author Bobby Nash and Raven Head Press' Michael Hudson have agreed to develop Author and Ghost Hunter, Alexandra Holzer’s GHOST GAL as a fictional series of novels based on her exploits as a budding parapsychologist. "GHOST GAL is neo pulp with a touch of gothic romance." says publisher Michael Hudson. "We're setting the series in the late 1950's to early 1960's to take advantage of the post World War II paranoia that was present as America was undergoing the McCarthy witch hunts, the fear of the atomic bomb, and the numerous representations of the alien invader that characterized the late twentieth century perceptions of 1950's America. Ghost hunters were plentiful but only one stood head and shoulders above all the rest. His name was Hans Holzer, the creator of the Holzer Method. This series centers around his headstrong but lovable daughter, Alexandra, who after college has just hung out her shingle to follow in her famed father's footsteps as a paranormal investigator. Of course this leads her into adventures far beyond the realm of belief. But how she solves various mysteries along with the help of her beloved father, mother and fiancé will provide plenty of chills, thrills and a treasure trove of character development. You are going to care about these characters."

"Alexandra and I have been talking about this project for several years now and the time is ripe to tell her story. She will be writing a "true case file" as a foreword to each book in the series as well as working hand in hand with Bobby and me to develop these wonderful characters. We could not be happier in having Bobby Nash, the winner of Pulp Ark’s 2013 Best Author Award, as the one to helm this series. As Bobby and I discussed the premise or the series we found ourselves finishing each other’s sentences. For me this was a very good thing indeed. We know exactly who these characters are. It won’t be long before you will too!"

Alexandra Holzer says, "I was blessed with a truly unique, zany, and remarkable life story – one that I first depicted in my book Growing Up Haunted. Can you imagine being raised as a little girl in Manhattan, living with a Ghost Hunter dad that spoke like Count Dracula, and an actual Russian Countess for a mother? I am convinced that no one else in the world has a life story similar to mine. My stories of the paranormal make for compelling tales, and I’m delighted that Raven’s Head Press has partnered with me to develop this new book series. I am not only excited but passionate about the GHOST GAL series, because much of her is who I am. She's family. Joining the "Ghost Gal Family" are two amazingly talented men who brilliantly embody neo-graphic tales both in writing and in depicting art to its fullest. It's pretty neat and humbling, to be immortalized in pen and ink!"

Bobby Nash had this to say about the new series. "When Raven’s Head Press head honcho, Michael Hudson first mentioned the idea behind Ghost Gal to me, I was hooked. By the end of our initial discussion, it was clear that we were on the same wavelength and the ideas began to flow. I love it when that happens."

"I was honored when Michael and Alexandra Holzer entrusted me with helping to sculpt the amazing world of GHOST GAL. I hope our readers have as much fun with this one as I’m having writing it."

About Alexandra Holzer
Emerging publicly onto the Paranormal Scene in early 2005 as a writer first and foremost, Author and Paranormalist Alexandra Holzer, has also appeared on numerous film documentaries such as the 25th Anniversary of Poltergeist and Shattered Hopes: The True Story of the Amityville Murders. No stranger to the field of the unknown as her father, Dr. Hans Holzer, PhD, was the Modern Pioneer and Father of the Paranormal. Alexandra's published a few books, one of which, Growing up Haunted has been optioned for TV and film rights with award winning producers in Hollywood. She writes a monthly article based on her travels, meet and greets in the field for the popular holistic green zine, OM Times. Holzer has gone on investigations but feels that her expertise lies not just with haunted houses, places or people but also in getting 'impressions' and being 'sensitive' to her surroundings. This yielded a Psychic Paranormal Investigator aka Ghost Hunter who is also on the quest for the unknown with a sense of humor. She grew up haunted and therefore has known nothing else. She is the only second generation paranormalist blazing this type of a well-rounded, ghostly and occultist trail of the past, into the present and forward into the future. From his secret lair in the wilds of Bethlehem, Georgia, Bobby Nash, the 2013 Pulp Ark Award Winner for Best Author, writes a little bit of everything including novels, comic books, short prose, novellas, graphic novels, screenplays, media tie-ins, and even a little pulp fiction just for good measure. And he sleeps at least once a week, whether he needs it or not. Between deadlines, Bobby is a part-time extra in movies and television. He is also the co-host of the Earth Station One podcast (www.esopodcast.com). Bobby is a member of the International Association of Media Tie-in Writers.

In 2013, Bobby was awarded Best Author by the Pulp Ark Awards. It was his first professional writing award and for once in his life was at a loss for words with his name was announced.
